BREAKING NEWS!! DESPERATION AHEAD OF TOMORROW’S G22 MEETING WITH PRESIDENT JONATHAN: AKPABIO CONVENES EMERGENCY MEETING OF AKS PDP CAUCUS TONIGHT ATTAH, ETIEBET, MKPUBRE, ITA ENANG, G22 MEMBERS NOT INVITED AGENDA: TO ISSUE COMMUNIQUÉ WARNING JONATHAN, PDP NWC AGAINST DROPPING UDOM AS FLAGBEARER An enlarged meeting of caucus members of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, will hold tonight at the Akwa Ibom state Governor’s Lodge at about 8pm. The meeting which is convened at the instance of the Akwa Ibom state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio ahead of the planned meeting between members of the G22 PDP Governorship aspirants, President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Working Committee of the PDP, is intended to get the caucus members sign a strong-worded communiqué threatening President Jonathan against yielding to the pressure coming from the members of the G22 to drop Udom Emmanuel as the governorship candidate of the party in Akwa Ibom state. The Guide Newspaper gathered from a top government House source who has been critical of Udom’s aspiration as Governor Akpabio’s successor that the meeting which will be conducted behind closed doors at the banquet hall will be preceded by the distribution of N300, 000 each to every member of the PDP caucus present in the meeting by Governor Akpabio, explained away as Christmas package, after which the Governor will delve into the matter that promoted the meeting. Our Government House hinted in great confidence that members of the press will not be allowed into the meeting hall during the deliberations as there is the possibility of some members of the caucus, especially the ones who have been aggrieved as a result of the conduct of the just concluded primaries of the PDP in Akwa Ibom, to voice out strong issues of concerns. Our source explained “This meeting is meant to act as a spoiler to the chances of members of the G22 making a headway with their planned meeting with the party NWC and Mr President tomorrow. I am sure you as an investigative journalist in Akwa Ibom state has been keeping close tap with the deep-seated controversies that have trailed Udom’s aspiration. With the breakaway of the G22 to form a united from, even while still remaining faithful members of the PDP in the state, intense pressure has been mounting on Mr President to invite them to a reconciliation meeting. And as you know, the members of the G22 have a very valid case and their unity has surprised a lot of watchers of event in the state political scene. With the planned meeting tomorrow, His Excellency, in recognition of the thrust of the demand of members of the G22 which is: that the emergence of any of the aspirants among the G22 will bring back peace to the party and put an end to their agitation, understands that the members of the G22 might win the president to their side, had to convene tonight’s meeting. The highpoint of the meeting will be the drafting of a strong worded communiqué aimed at convincing Mr President that the membership of the G22 and their contributions to the success of Mr President at the polls will be inconsequential, hence they should be ignored. I understand the communiqué will be signed by all the members present at the meeting, with the Press called in to record the motions that will be moved and seconded and the signing processes Let me also disclose to you that arrangements have been concluded for some Akwa Ibom indigenes to storm wadata plaza tomorrow, with placards protesting any attempt to drop Udom as the governorship candidate before the meeting with the President which I understand is scheduled for 10pm tomorrow.” Culled From THE GUIDE NEWSPAPER
