BREAKING NEWS FROM CANEY . . . . Unless rain falls on the Caney area in the coming days, mandatory water restrictions may be eminent, Mayor Carol McClure announced Monday. The City of Caney has been under voluntary water restrictions since 2013. The available water supply at the Little Caney River has fallen to precarious levels in the past week; however, much-needed rain last Saturday allowed that level to rise somewhat, thereby delaying the mandatory water restrictions, she said. Water may have to be drawn from the Timber Hill Lake north of Niotaze in order to meet the communitys water needs for the remainder of the summer, McClure said.
