BREAKING: U.S. Consumer Price Index Rises 0.1% In February ▸ OnKit.co/uHCVb U.S. consumer prices remained subdued in February, according to the latest data from the Department of Labor. On Tuesday, the consumer price index increased 0.1% on a seasonally adjusted basis in February, from January’s increase of 0.1%. According to media reports, economists expected the inflation barometer to rise between 0.2% and 0.1%. Looking at unadjusted year-over-year data, inflation saw a modest increase, of 1.1% a sharp drop down compared to January’s increase of 1.6%. The report said that an increase in the food index accouned for more than half of the increase in the headline figure. Also lower gasoline prices helped to drag down the energy index, which the department said more than offset sharp increases in the fuel oil and natural gas indexes. ...[continued]
