BREAKING: Woman Reportedly Shot Six Times in Front of Remsen Avenue House For Parolees - Police responded to a shots fired call at approximately 3:35am this morning near the Hope Manor apartment complex at the intersection of Remsen Avenue and George Street. According to police radio transmissions, authorities located a victim who had been shot multiple times in the vicinity of Hope Manor, one of the citys four public housing developments. I just had a caller said a female was shot six times. She walked possibly from Remsen to Redmond, a dispatcher relayed to police on the scene. Shortly thereafter, the victim was located on nearby Hope Manor Drive, a small road running through the housing development. Police later determined that the scene of the shooting was just a few feet away where Remsen Avenue meets Welton Street, in front of the Sanford Bates House. The Bates House is owned by the NJ Association on Correction (NJAC) and serves as transitional housing for parolees. From 1972 to 2005, it was a halfway house, one of the first in the state.
