Preliminary story here tinyurl/m8zq7sd From Mark Godsey of the Ohio Innocence Project (congrats to them, too!): Rickey, who will be released Friday, served 39 years in prison, and the trio together served over 100 years in prison for a crime they didnt commit. All 3 received the death penalty and came close to execution---in fact, Wiley Bridgeman was 20 days from execution when the death penalty statue in Ohio was declared unconstitutional. If not for lucky timing, all 3 would have been executed decades ago...The hearing started yesterday morning with the State offering to make a deal for a plea to time served. The judge pressured us to take it. We presented it to our client, who took no time in saying, I dont need more time to think about it. I am an innocent man. I will not take the deal.
