BRIEF HISTORY Considering the fact that more children are becoming orphans due to the scourge of HIV AIDS and other problems in our community, Considering the vulnerability of a cross section of orphans due to lack of proper care from the biological parents or guardians, and the social stress they are going true, Considering the vision of Dorcas to bring light and Love to the poor and the needy trough various projects of pain, hunger, and suffering relief, the provision of life sustaining skill, the assistance to widows orphans and the abandoned, The Dorcas Orphanage Centre has being created to ensure the well being of Orphans, abandoned, widows etc. Dorcas Orphanage Centre is a charitable organisation initiated by Dorcas Charity. After carrying the burden for several years, she sought to bring it into practical perspective. Since then she took upon herself to manifest love and care to the destitute, the sick, the widow and mostly the orphans by sharing with them what ever she is blessed with. The first official activity of Dorcas Orphanage started in December 2004, when DORCAS reach out to the under privileged during Christmas season to at least twenty families, and many abandoned patients in hospitals. This outreach marked the beginning of a base line survey through the year 2005. In January 2006, she opened the Dorcas Orphanage centre with a very poor family, a widow with her 4 children
