BRIEFLY ABOUT ARCH. OLUSOLA OMOTOSO (Culled from a speech made available by Tope Tophe Igho ) Meet Arch Olusola Nicholas Omotoso, Architect, Contractor, Entrepreneur and Businessman was born on 4th February, 1977 in a small rusty town of Usi Ekiti, a community within the territorial authority of Ido- Osi Local Government of Ekiti State to the family of Michael Adebayo and Elizabeth Omotoso, both illustrious chiefs of Usi- Ekiti. Sola was not born with a silver spoon, infact, there was no spoon at all, but was armed with iron resolve and determination to excel. He enrolled at Saint Joseph Catholic Primary School, Usi- Ekiti to obtain a Primary School Leaving Certificate, which was followed in quick succession with an acquisition of a Senior Secondary School Certificate from All Saints Unity Secondary School, Usi Ekiti, after acquiring a Junior Secondary School Certificate from Notre Dame College, also in Usi Ekiti. In 1996, he was admitted to Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo, and now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, where he obtained a National Diploma in Architecture. His quest and thirst for success sew him admitted to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife where he obtained multiple degrees in Architecture. Today, he is a holder of a Masterate Degree in Architecture. Armed with the required academic laurels, Olusola took the building Construction and Civil Engineering industry by storm. He pioneered in 2005, the birth of a Multi-Million Naira Building construction Firm, Pleasant Design Concepts Limited of No. 13 Mabinuori Street, Shangisha, Lagos. Distinguished, Ladies and Gentlemen, at a time when the contemporaries of this phenomenon, Sola Omotoso were busy scouting and submitting applications for employment, Sola, the Chief Executive Officer of PDCL, Nigeria was busy building the bricks and erecting the pillars upon which this highly sought after and professionally rich company was mounted. In 2005, PDCL competence and professional acumen was put to test by her engagement with CSS Bookshop, Marina, Lagos for the reconstruction and re-modeling of its ultra-modern printing press. This indeed was the needed turning point, and ever since, ever increasing challenges accompanied by generous financial rewards keeps coming till date. An astute Manager of men and resources, Sola built PDCL, Nigeria from sole to the helm and the company is still growing. He succeeded in building a ring of rich clientele, which included Banks, Insurance Companies, High networth Individuals and Multi- Nationals, amongst numerous others. This sociable & socializing Architect, who is a member of Ikoyi Club, 1938 and numerous other social clubs in the US and Canada, has been severally honoured for his philanthropist gestures. As early as 2006, Olusola’s kith and kin in various tertiary institutions across the country under the auspices of the Federation of Usi Student Union conferred on him the Distinguished Nation Builder’s Award. This was followed in quick succession by the Federation of Ido Osi Student Union, University of Ado Ekiti Chapter who found Sola worthy to receive the Young Achiever’s Award on 28th July, 2006. In September, 2008, Kegite Club International, World Headquarters, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, presented him with the association’s Award of Excellence. Few months after, in December, 2008 to be precise, this gentleman was nominated as the recipient of the Millennium Architect’s Award by the National Association of Ido Osi Local Government Students. A man of many parts, his philanthropy and deep social connection has continued to earn him more laurels. In March, 2009, the Association of Masters of Business Administration Student, OAU, Ile Ife Chapter honoured him with Role Model Award and Rotaract District 9130 Nigeria, of Rotary International, Zone B, Oyo State also conferred Honour and Humanitarian Service Award on Sola Omotoso. Other awards in his honour include; Business Leadership Award by Progressive Democrats of Ekiti, Publisher of Ekiti Summit Newspaper and Award of Excellence by Odogede Youth Progressive Association, Igede Ekiti, Ekiti State, Male Achiever of the Year Award by City People Magazine, an award of excellence by De-Ambassador’s Club, Usi-Ekiti, Outstanding achievement in architecture by Elegance Media Concept Ltd, Merit award by Festival of Gospel Artiste of Nigeria, Meritorious Award for his tremendous contribution to the entertainment and education development by Federation of Ekiti State Students Association (Jabu Chapter). The University of Ado Ekiti Student Union Government also found him worthy to receive her 2010 Impactful Personality Award as first class Nation Builder amongst numerous others. Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen, when a man conducts himself in a manner that deserves an honour, let it be conferred on him. Even the Holy bible says “when a man is diligent in his work, he shall stand before kings and not mere men”. Here stands a man whose ways pleases God. Here is a man who rubs shoulders with the “High and Mighty”. Here is a young man that befriends Governors, Ministers, Traditional Rulers and all sorts of men of authority. Ladies and Gentlemen, I say again when a man deserves honour, honour him. I present to you Olusola Omotoso, a fast emerging figure in Architecture in Nigeria, a philanthropist par excellence, a man of immense contact and widening connection.
