BRITISH BUSINESSES COME TO SINGAPORE by Robin Stienberg, The National Critics Choice The UK Government’s exporting department, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) London, are set to take a select group of British companies from the Creative and Media sector to Singapore for the Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity 2014. The visit is organised in conjunction with the British High Commission in Singapore, and will help companies explore business opportunities in the region’s growing creative and advertising community. The London-based companies will also be looking to exchange ideas and meet key players involved in the sector, from art directors to agency heads. The delegation will be in Singapore from 22-26 September 2014 and will be led by Jim James, UKTI International Trade Adviser. Speaking ahead of the visit, he said: “There is a strong, long-standing economic and business partnership between the UK and Singapore, accounting for about half of all UK exports to ASEAN. “Like the UK, Singapore is looking to build a knowledge based economy. This trade mission is a great opportunity to showcase cutting-edge British companies, particularly those involved in Tech City in London. “With the creative industry leading the way in technology innovation and job creation, the Spikes festival provides the perfect platform to do business. Singapore has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the best business environments in the world”. In Singapore, British High Commissioner, Antony Phillipson, also added his support for the delegation’s visit: “As a major trading hub in South East Asia, Singapore is an excellent location for UK companies to establish and build their business in the region. I wish those participating in the trade mission every success as they look to make new connections and develop partnerships for future business success. The UKTI team and all of us at the British High Commission stand ready to help in any way we can.
