BROADWAY OYSTER BAR….ST LOUIS….1-25-14….SETLIST It was the world of bones last night at the Broadway Oyster bar. We have so many friends in St Lou and two of them are amazing trombone men. One is Aaron Chandler, the boneman who is one of the best trombone repairmen in the country and also a member of the Funky Butt Brass Band and the other is DJ Kennedy, a boneman and someone who probably has the largest collection of vintage King trombones in the world. He buys and sells these horns everyday and he was kind enough to show up with and arm full of trombones last night for us to play around on. It was quite fun switching from one horn to the another. Kinda felt like Jimmy Herring from Widespread Panic changing guitars every song. Aaron got up and played his horn with us for the most of the last set and quickly got into the groove of switching horns on every other song too. All we needed was someone to tune them and hand it to us and a big rack of bones on the side. Ok, just kidding on the tuning. Can’t tune a trombone like you tune a guitar. Big thanks to John, the owner, and all the people who came out and packing the Broadway Oyster Bar. Oh, be on the lookout for the N.O. Suspects who will be playing there in the next week or so.
