BROOKS OF NYT DEFENDS OBAMA RE BERGDAHL: brooks, not obamas biggest fan, says POTUS was right for trading for bergdahl because of the social need for an american president to sometimes undertake broadly framed actions on behalf of the entire country out of loyalty to the national community we all share, notwithstanding the sergeants troublesome personal story nor the perceived threats posed by the released prisoners. ~ ~ ~ ~ this is a provocative and insightful piece that raises issues that hadnt occurred to me! and thats what a good column should do, right?
