BROTHER KEIFEE LEWIS, GONE, BUT NOT REALLY GONE My Brother-In-the Struggle-for-Justice, Willie Keifee Lewis, former Branch President of Kinston NAACP, who also helped with NC NAACP security was funeralized today. I know we say, they have left and gone to a better place, but we lost a good solider in the good fight for justice and I wish he could have stayed here with us. This is a great loss to me personally, publicly, and professionally. Especially as I knew keifee to be so full of life - smiling, joking, playing, and if you ever saw him at a party, you would notice he could do Morris Days (The Time) dances better than Morris Day! In short, his presence brought a sense of fun and joy to this difficult, endless, high-pace, and often troublesome fight for justice. God took Keifee to a better place, but God knows Keifee was doing a great job making this sometimes dark and unjust place here on earth, a more illuminated and better place. God bless his soul. The over-pouring flocks of people coming out to pay there final respects to this great man is a testament to his unique way of adding more humor, and human assets to our fight against the horrific and inhumane liabilities of injustice. Long live the beautiful spirit of Willie Keiffee Lewis! The extent to which you will be missed is inexpressable. But I will look to the sky knowing, it has a new star. I am your Brother, always, Brother Curtis E. Gatewood
