BROTTAN ARRESTED On August 16th at approximately 8:44 pm, an officer from the Coquille Police Department responded to a dispatched call for a suspicious vehicle in the area of East 10th Street and North Dean Street. The officer observed a blue Ford Taurus parked on the corner of East 10th Street and North Dean Street. The officer observed a male sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and another male sitting outside of the car. As he approached the male outside of the vehicle the officer asked what he was doing. The subject advised he was waiting for a friend but didn’t know the friend’s name. The driver was asked the same question and stated he also was waiting for an unnamed friend. As the officer was conducting a records check on the individuals they drove off in the vehicle. The Coos Bay Dispatch Center advised that the driver of the vehicle did not have a valid drivers license. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at East 12th Street and North Dean Street. The officer confirmed that the driver did not have a valid license. The vehicle was inventoried prior to tow. During the inventory the officer discovered drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. The officer also discovered the suspect was in possession of a prescription narcotic not prescribed to him. Royace Wayne Brottan,60, Powers, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Oxycodone and booked into the Coos County Jail without incident.
