BROWARD COUNTY OFFICE OF ECONOMIC AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT GRADUATE INTERN (PART-TIME 19 hours per week - Without Benefits) (Temporary Assignment: 18-24 Months) Salary - $15.09 per hour This is an outstanding opportunity for a Graduate Intern to gain meaningful experience integrating theory with practice and make a difference in a government environment. The Office of Economic and Small Business Development is seeking a qualified candidate to assist with economic development outreach, community relations efforts and the on-going management of the agency’s web site. Work involves: providing administrative support to assist in implementing program activities; researching, compiling and verifying information; preparing correspondence, agendas and meeting minutes; compiling informational materials for meetings, presentations, and workshops; and interacting with the public, elected officials, chambers of commerce, community based organizations and other diverse groups. A key role of the selected Intern will be to assist in researching, planning, designing and authoring web site content and web pages; and developing and implementing social media strategies to strengthen the agency’s presence, impact and reach within the business community. Requirements: Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, an accredited Master’s Degree program with major coursework in Public Administration, Web Site Design, Social Media or related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to organize and coordinate multiple and time sensitive assignments. Experience or coursework in economic/business development or social networking site development and use (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) are preferred.
