BRTV NEWS: (News posted by arewa 07080869636) 19TH JULY, 2013: BAMA: Governor Kashim Shettima was in Bama to condole the Emir Alhaji Kyari Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-kanemi over the death of five of his Courtiers in a ghastly motor accident on Sunday along Maiduguri-Damaturu road. Condoling the Emir Governor Kashim Shettima enjoined him to accept what happened as an act of Allah and prayed for the repose of the departed souls. He equally prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries. The deceased courtiers include Baba Dima Umaru, Saje Kachalla Umara, Alhaji Mustafa Kuwama, Babagana Dawori and Abubakar Gambo, while seven others sustained injuries and are said to be responding to treatment at the UMTH. On his way back to Maiduguri Governor Kashim Shettima stopped over at Alau to inspect the drilling rigs and sprinkler machines purchased by the State Government for modern irrigation. Also inspected were the twenty housing units near Dalori housing estate. MMC: The Caretaker Chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Alhaji Kadir Rahis has restated he commitment of his Council to poverty alleviation and youth empowerment. Alhaji Kadir Rahis made the remark at the presentation of cash to youths in each of the fifteen wards of the Metropolis. The Chairman who was represented on the occasion by the Supervisory Councillor for Poverty Alleviation, Mallam Iro said the gesture was in fulfillment of the pledge he made during his taking over ceremony and swearing-in of Councillors. He said ten youths have been selected in each of the ward to be given ten thousand naira each as part of Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment Programmes of the present administration. The Chairman said the exercise would be a continuous one adding that poverty alleviation materials have also been distributed to youths to make them self-reliant. The Director General Services, Alhaji Zannah Shettima observed that poverty and idleness among youths promotes social vices. He advised the beneficiaries to utilize the money given to them judiciously. Contributing Mallam Abdullahi Musa Premier prayed for the restoration of lasting peace in the State and advised leaders to have fear of Allah in the discharge of their responsibilities. LAUNCHING: In a related development the Caretaker Chairman of Konduga Local Government Council, Alhaji Abba Ali Abbari has launched the distribution of Ramadan Kareem to the people of the area. According to the Chairman the commodities which consist of one thousand two hundred bags of rice and sugar will be distributed to all Village Units in the spirit of the Holy month of Ramadan. Alhaji Abba Ali Abbari expressed gratitude to Governor Kashim Shettima for the timely provision of the commodity. The Caretaker Chairman said a committee has been set up to ensure equal distribution of the food items and urged the people to cooperate with the committee members. Contributing the ANPP Chairman Konduga Local Government, Alhaji Bukar Kalli thanked the Caretaker Chairman for his concern to the plight of the people and assured that they would carry out the assignment given to them without any bias. Meanwhile, the Caretaker Chairman of Konduga Local Government Alhaji Abba Ali Abbari has condoled the family of late Alhaji Gashau Konduga who was shot by unknown gunmen in his residence. He prayed Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
