BRTV NEWS: posted by arewa 2347031200094 16TH SEPT. 2013: Ultra Modern Borno State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board The Ultra Modern Borno State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board Office has been commissioned by Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo. Correspondent Abdulsalam Mohammed reports that the multi million naira edifice was built by the state government. Speaking at the Commissioning Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo commended the state government for providing such a magnificent edifice for the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board. Architect Namadi Sambo charged the Board members to reciprocate by being more committed to the course of hajj exercise. Earlier, the chairman of the Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board Professor Tijjani El-Miskin said the edifice comprises forty seven offices and was constructed at the cost of one hundred and forty eight million naira. It will also accommodate NAHCON zonal office, officials from Yobe Pilgrims’ Welfare Board and the Air Carriers office among others. The Vice President has since returned to Abuja and was seen off by the State Governor, his Yobe counterpart, the Sultan of Sokoto and Shehu of Borno among other important personalities. BARRACKS The State Governor Alhaji Kashim Shettima has been commended for providing 100 KVA Generator to 202 Tank Battalion Army Barracks Bama. The Vice Chairman of Bama local government council Alhaji Mustapha Gujja made the commendation when he visited the barracks. The Vice Chairman was received on arrival at the 202 Tank Battalion Bama by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel A.G. Laloka where he was conducted round the Power House. The Vice Chairman expressed gratitude to the state Governor for providing the Generator to the barracks which he noted will ease their power problem. He also assured the council’s support and assistance where necessary to the Army formation and commended them for their security operations in maintaining peace in the area. Alhaji Mustapha Gujja called on the people of the area to always cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to rid the area of criminals. He appealed to the state government to provide street light in Bama town and rehabilitation of Bama-Maiduguri 33KVA line. Commissioner for Agriculture Alhaji Usman Zanna The Commissioner for Agriculture Alhaji Usman Zanna has assured the College of Agriculture Maiduguri of his Ministry’s support to move the College forward. He gave the assurance when Provost of the College and Management staff paid him a courtesy call in his office. The Commissioner told the visiting Provost that being a product of the College he knows the peculiar problems facing it and promised his ministry’s assistance. He said the College of Agriculture is expected to play vital role in the agricultural transformation agenda of the present administration if given the necessary facilities and structures. The Commissioner also condoled the Management of the College over the death of one of their lecturers Ahmed Saleh. Earlier, the Provost of the College, Muktar Alkali called for closer working relation between the College and the Ministry. He said Borno is known for producing prominent Agriculturalists in the country namely Mohammed Lawal, Dr. Bukar Shuaib A.J.K.G Imam and Musa Daggash among others adding that there is the need to develop the college of Agric to sustain the academic excellence. The Provost later presented a document detailing problems of the college to the Commissioner. Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-kanemi The Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-kanemi has assured the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) of his support at all times. He gave this assurance yesterday when leaders of the Association paid him a courtesy visit in his palace. Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-kanemi thanked the FOMWAN leadership for the visit and commended activities of the Association for the wellbeing of the society. He said he has been watching their activities on the Television which he described as educative. The Shehu then assured of his support at all times to the Association and called on them to pray for peace in the State and the Nation in general. Earlier the Amirah of the Federation of Muslims Women Association of Nigeria Hajiya Falmata Umar Abdulqadir informed the Shehu that they were in his palace to congratulate him over his appointment as this year’s National Amirul Hajj and the successful flagging-off of Airlift of pilgrims in Maiduguri. Amirah Falmata said another purpose of their visit was to intimate him about their activities which includes propagating Islam by educating Muslims on how to perform their religious rites. Highpoint of the visit was the special prayer offered by one of the leaders of FOMWAN for peace and the successful completion of Hajj exercise. AIRLIFT: The State Amirul Hajj and Deputy Governor Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha has advised intending pilgrims in the State to always be ready for airlift to the holy land within the remaining days earmarked for their Airlift. The Amirul Hajj gave the advised today while speaking to Correspondent Abdulsalam Mohammed shortly after featuring in our popular Hajj Mabrur Programme. According to Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha the Airlift of Borno Pilgrims including Hajj Officials and the Amirul Hajj team will be concluded in the next four to five days. He also called on all intending pilgrims to keep vigil and be ready as they will be call upon to report to the camp for Airlift. So far, he said the first flight has safely landed in Madina with Borno Pilgrims doing well while the second flight has also left for the holy land. The Deputy Governor also said Government will provide them decent accommodation in Mecca, Ihram and Hadaya among other incentives to make them comfortable. The Amirul Hajj explained that provision of accommodation to pilgrims in Madina is the statutory responsibility of the Federal Government. Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha further charged the Pilgrims to be good ambassadors while in the Holy land and avoid any thing that will tarnish the image of the State and the Country in general. It could be recalled that the first flight that airlifted Borno Pilgrims on Sunday to Saudi Arabia was seen off at the Maiduguri International Airport by the Amirul Hajj and members of his team where prayers were offered for their safe landing in the Holy Land.
