During the presentation of BSP, Mr. Tsivadze specified the potential that Romania and Georgia have to become the main gates for the access of goods coming from Asia and Middle East to Central and Eastern Europe and vice versa using intermodal connection. «We need to show that our ports are in full development which will enable them attract new cargo flows and generate trust in the future of our countries as reliable partners for the transshipment of cargoes in the above mentioned directions. It is high time we make a joint attempt to bring to the attention of both importers and exporters the viability of using our (Traceca) routes than those through the Western Europe»- he said. One of the main points of the event was the agreement and signing of necessary documents by the parties concerning the launch of a regular road-rail ferry line Illichevsk(Ukraine)- Constanza(Romania)-Batumi(Georgia) to be implemented in mid-October this year. According to the participants, the event was held in a business and friendly atmosphere and the parties agreed to continue focusing on improving the infrastructure and on performing several essential legislative amendments that would turn Romania and Georgia into the ideal destination for European imports and exports.
