BUHARI AND THE POLITICS OF OLD AGE The detractors of former Head - TopicsExpress

BUHARI AND THE POLITICS OF OLD AGE The detractors of former Head of State and APC Presidential flagbearer, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(rtd) have exhausted their dirty bags of lies against the General, achieving nothing. What they do now is hammering on his age as if the constitution says a septuagenerian is not legible to contest the position of President of Nigeria. Paradoxically, put Gen. Buhari side by side with these people, who say he is too old to be President, you will find that the General looks younger than them all. Moreso, he is more agile, active and intelligent than them all. Again, these detractors are the same people, celebrating the late Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa as an icon. Ask them how old was Mandela when he became President of South Africa, they will go mute. Mandela was older than Buhari when the former became President of South Africa and he performed very well, warranting South Africans to clamour for him to do a 2nd term at the age of 80years, but Mandela refused. He preferred to bow out honourably as the ovation was loudest. If there was any Nigerian politician, who deserves to be compared with Mandela, he is Buhari. Old age is not a right. It is a privilege. The average age expectancy in Nigeria is 40years. A man, who is in his 70s in present day Nigeria and remains alive, qualifies to be a hero. Buhari is a hero. Why is the PDP afraid of him? Instead of convincing the electorate to vote Jonathan in the Presidential election, they are dissipating energy on Buharis age, and those doing this are Christians; they have forgotten that the Christian Bible condemns King Rehoboam, who became ruler of Israel at a very young age and messed up the the system, culminating in the disintegration of Israel into North and South. No amount of vicious christian propaganda and lies, can change the masses preference for Buhari. If Buhari was an Islamic fundamentalist, why did he allow his daughter to marry an Igbo Christian and today, she, Amina, is a member of the Anglican Church. In an interview, the great sage, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu of blessed memory, stated that the events of the civil war show that the Igbos are more even more comfortable with northerners than their immediate neighbours, referring to the South-South. Buhari is not like Jesus Christ(pbuh). He is not like Mohammed (pbuh). He is not a hypocrite. Buhari is Buhari. He is our own Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln like Buhari contested the American Presidency severally before he succeeded. Come May, 2015, we shall know whom Nigerians prefer. Age, religion and other nonsense, have no role to play. What has a role to play is antecedent. A mans reputation is predicated on his antecedent.
