BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZ. – The Bullhead City Police Department recognized police officers and civilian employees who have contributed in a special way to help others and improve public safety during the 2013 Annual Awards Program, Wednesday. Officer Mark Mullins was named Police Officer of the Year and Emergency Services Dispatcher Lori Battey was named Civilian Employee of the Year. Officer Mark Mullins began his career with the Bullhead City Police Department in July 2011. “Although he has only been a member of the Department for just over two years, he has already made a name for himself as a tenacious and thorough investigator,” said Captain Tad Appleby. “Officer Mullins has received accolades from colleagues and citizens for his willingness to help and genuine concern for helping resolve issues.” Officer Mullins also received a Unit Citation and Police Chief’s Letter of Appreciation during the awards ceremony. Officer Mullins is a graduate of Mohave High School. Emergency Services Dispatcher Lori Battey began her career with the Bullhead City Police Department in August 2003. She left for a short time but returned in July 2006. During the awards ceremony, Ms. Battey also received a Commendation Medal for her assistance during a fatal head-on collision before emergency crews arrived on scene. “She is willing to help any way that she can, even complete strangers,” said Captain Appleby. “She is a team player and a great motivator.” The Bullhead City Police Department’s Annual Awards Program can be viewed online at bullheadcity, by clicking on “Agendas and Videos” and “Boards, Meetings & Special Programs”.
