BURGLARY SUSPECT APPREHENDED Special Press Release October 23, 2014 On October 22, 2014, at 12:25 hours Madison patrols officers were dispatched to a residence on Community Place on a reported burglary to a residence. Upon officers arriving to that location they learned when a family friend stopped by to pay a visit, a burglary in progress was possibly interrupted. It was confirmed by responding officers that that a burglary did occur to the residence, when they found a rear window screen removed and the house had been ransacked. A notebook laptop computer, prescription pills Oxycodone and Xanax were allegedly reported missing from the residence. A witness reported to officers seeing a suspicious male crouching down behind a fence of the residence at the time of the burglary. Patrol officers with the assistance of the detective bureau quickly located and identified the suspect, also of Community Place. After conducting an extensive investigation on scene, it was concluded that the suspect was responsible for the burglary that was currently being investigated and additionally responsible for two other burglaries reported that were reported October 13th and 15th, also on Community Place. During the investigation, several items relevant to all three burglaries were identified and recovered. These items included burglar tools and several articles of clothing. Upon taking the suspect into custody detectives conducted additional interviews and he was charged with two counts of burglary 2C:18-2a and two counts of theft 2C:20-3a by Lt. Lam. This was stemming from burglary and thefts that were reported on October 13th and 14th. The suspect was additionally charged by Det. Ken Shannon with burglary 2C:18-2a, theft 2C:20-3a, possession of burglar tools 2C-5-5, criminal mischief 2C:17-3 stemming from the burglary on October 22nd. Bail was set by Honorable Gary Troxell at $2, 5000 no 10%. The suspect was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default.
