BUS ATTACK GIRLS SENTENCED A GOLD Coast teenager has been sentenced to three years jail over the vicious bashing of a legally-blind pensioner on a local bus — and will be released on Thursday. Layni Gloria Cameron, 18, wept loudly as Judge Tony Rafter admonished her for her role in the cowardly attack which was caught on mobile phone video footage. The footage went viral, sparking national outrage. While Cameron was sentenced to three years behind bars, she has already served almost nine months in custody and will be released on Thursday. She also pleaded guilty to a string of unrelated charges. Her co-accused in the bus attack on 77-year-old pensioner Paul Buttigieg, Larna Watmough, was handed a two-month suspended sentence back in September. But that sentence will be the subject of an appeal after Queensland Attorney General Jared Bleijie viewed it was “manifestly inadequate”. An appeal date has not been set.
