BUSH43: What A Birthday! 1.0 This is intended to serve as my vote of thanks to everyone who has joined in the frenzy which my yesterday 2014th birthday has become online. I shall forever be grateful to all of you. Please, dont insist that I mention names since there wont be space and time enough! 2.0 This is one birthday I shall remember for a long time. The thing just kept catching on. As a frontline member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly joked in his well-wisher telephone call to me yesterday afternoon, friends and enemies are all over Facebook, celebrating you. No need to latch on to the Honourable Members joke. I confess that I also felt the same way as early as 9am when phone calls, smses, visits and online messages flooded in. One could not but wipe ones eyes and take a second look at bylines and content of many of those works written in my honour. Dont dwell on that, please. Rather, staying positive, lets not gloss over the eternal lesson this should teach all of us: no matter what happened or what will happen, never write off anyone as an enemy. Most times, or someday when you least expect, enemies shall transform into friends and blow your mind with pure friendship. Yesterday, during my 43rd birthday, I confirmed that truism yet again. Never close the door on anyone! 3.0 I never do. I never shall. To be sure, I shall seek a personal way of saying thanks across board. As for the special writers, I pray that you all receive even more super-positive commentaries when your own time comes. I shall seek ways of archiving those beautiful words of yours, for posterity! 4.0 The day itself was quite eventful. As you would see in the accompanying photos, I had a couple of cakes; even cutting one with a birthday mate, Kogi-born Wande, who was born on my day, four years back. Then my team at BUSH HOUSE GROUP. They were/are fab. They sang and spoke and jested all the way. In all, 12th August, 2014 was so massively celebrated that something tells me dawn is here. Help me to praise God! 5.0 Finally, I need to fulfill the promise I made two, three days back; that on my 2014th birthday, I shall speak about MDA (to represent past); GOA (to represent present) and UOU (the man who is symbol of the future. Please come with me: a) The Past: MDA here refers to immediate-past Police Boss, IGP M. D. Abubakar, retd. It beats me how/why good men never stay in office long enough. This man was good. While I wish him a short retirement and subsequently another national call up, it is my prayer that God shall use the new IG even more mightily! b) The Present: In my State, Gov. Godswill Akpabio seems to be all out to install a successor. I still dont understand why; seeing thats always forcing his eyes off the ball for these few months left of his eight years. Let him come clean; allow the people to choose freely. This is the way to reduce the level of political/ethnic tension in my State. The governor must go out of his way to do everything to show that he desires to finish strong. All this talk of wanting to install a successor is unnecessary distraction! c) The Future: From 2015, UOU shall return to make Akwa Ibom proud. Lets all pray for this great man. God bless Akwa Ibom State! ...B
