BUSINESSES INVITED TO HELP LIGHT UP THE TOWN CENTRE St Helens Council is urging local businesses to take advantage of the town centre’s busiest evening of the year – and make this year’s Christmas lights switch on a night to remember! With preparations already underway for the arrival of top acts including the Lightning Seeds, Scouting for Girls and Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro, event organisers are inviting bars, restaurants, clubs and shops to get involved. The Switch On takes place in Victoria Square between 4pm and 7pm on Saturday 15 November, followed by an after show party between 7pm and 10pm. The six-hour, free-to-attend event should boost footfall across both the retail and leisure sectors. The switch on regularly attracts crowds of 6,000 plus, but this year promises to be something special. Businesses planning their own switch on parties or promotions are also being invited to link in with the council’s marketing activity – so the authority can roll out a comprehensive publicity package to maximise the event’s potential.
