BUTCH, A 10-YEAR OLD REHABILITATED PIT BULL FIGHTING DOG AND HIS HANDLER/TRAINER, CHUCK STELLA, WILL BE THE LOCAL CELEBRITY GUESTS OF PARTNERS WITH PAWS AT THE 2014 OBERLIN DOGGIE DOO EVENT, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2014. Oberlin, OH – Plan to attend the 2014 Oberlin Doggie Doo on Saturday, September 20, 2014, and make sure to stop by the Partners With Paws booth so you can meet Butch, a 10-year old rehabilitated Pit Bull Fighting Dog and his handler/trainer, Chuck Stella. When people hear the words Pit Bull, most are immediately afraid and fearful of the breed, even if they’ve never been around one. Butch will change your mind the minute you meet him, pet him, and interact with him. Come on and take the latest challenge and get Kissed by a Pit for a donation that will help homeless animals in and around Lorain County. Butch was just 6 months old when Chuck Stella acquired him from a drug bust in Lorain County. The belief was that he was being groomed for the short and painful life of dog fighting. He was covered in scabs and scars from dog bites on his face and head. He was aggressive towards other dogs and at first, he had to be separated from them. He gradually became more social with another dog named Violet who eventually taught Butch how to simply be a dog. As time went on, Butch was introduced to more dogs and people and even children, who he seemed to gravitate to the most. Butch became a wonderful pet and ambassador of his breed and soon became a Certified Therapy Dog, who now visits schools and hospitals spending a lot of time with his favorite people…kids. Butch loves to swim in his pond, lay in the sun, chase his ball, and spend time with his 4 other pack mates, including a Chihuahua. The 2014 Doggie Doo will take place on Tappan Square in downtown Oberlin on Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 11AM to 4PM. There will be over 20 animal rescue groups there with adoptable pets, pet vendors, canine contests, K9 demonstrations from local law enforcement departments, and the famous pooch parade will end the festivities. Radio Stations WOBL & WDLW will host a live remote broadcast the entire day, beginning at 10:00 a.m. You are invited to attend along with your own 4-legged friends or come empty handed and possibly go home with your new best friend. The Partners With Paws booth will also have Rainbow Bridge Magnets and Silver Dog Bone Key Chains for sale for only $5.00 each. Volunteers will also have tickets for the 2014 Raffle to the Rescue where three lucky winners will have a chance to win $1,000 or $500 or $250 in cash. Tickets are only $10 each and when you buy 6 tickets, you will save one dog from death row. You can also download tickets at PartnersWithPawsLC. Deadline to purchase tickets is December 12, 2014 and the drawing will be held on December 15, 2014. All winners will be notified by phone. If the Doggie Doo event is rained out, Radio Stations WOBL & WDLW will host a live remote broadcast at Midway Mall in Elyria (north court near Harry Buffalo’s) from 10: 00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Butch and Chuck will be there with us! If you need more information, please call Lorie A. Wilber at 440-775-2056.
