BUTLER COUNTY HISTORY CENTER & KANSAS OIL MUSEUM For Immediate Release “History Center to feature community participation exhibit” With another school year fast approaching, the Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum is excited to announce plans for a community participation exhibit, ‘School Spirit’. This exhibit will feature memories from students from all of Butler County since the late 1800’s. The History Center is looking for individuals or groups who are willing to share one special item that represents what school spirit means to them. Whether it’s a photo of grandma in a one-room school house, a letter jacket, science fair project, class notes, etc.., the Butler County History Center would like to display it for this temporary exhibit, running September 6 through November 2, 2013. The History Center will accept one item in good condition from each participant to feature in the exhibit. Supplemented by the museum collections, the exhibit will feature archives, photos, textiles and objects from local schools across the county. ‘School Spirit’ will be housed in the front lobby and will be free to the public. Anyone interested in featuring an object for this temporary display should contact the museum to schedule a time to bring the item to the Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum during business hours on or before August 30, 2013. The item will need to be picked up no later than November 9, 2013. The museum reserves the right to refuse use of any item. The Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum is located at 383 E. Central, El Dorado, KS 67042. Hours are Monday thru Friday, 10 am- 4 pm, Saturday 9 am - 5 pm. For more information, call 316.321.9333.
