BVAL Senior Software Developer Job (New York, NY, USA): Job Requisition Number:39834 The Role: Bloomberg Valuations (BVAL) team produces end-of-day prices for over 2 million Fixed Income securities. We have developed a system of complex models that uses Bloombergs vast market and reference data to provide high quality pricing on both liquid and illiquid securities. BVAL pricing gives our clients unprecedented advantages in their portfolio valuation and provides much needed transparency to the markets through our integration with the Bloomberg Terminal. BVAL is looking for a senior software developer in the BVAL Core R&D team. This group is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure behind this product. The BVAL system currently comprises of several hundred processes running on dedicated hardware that can handle over a billion ticks a day and run sophisticated quant algorithm to produce prices from these massive amounts of data. The right candidate would have the skills and experience required to build highly efficient, scalable and reliable systems that can deal with high volumes of data while remaining flexible to handle the growing needs of this product. He/she should have strong design and development skills in C++ on UNIX and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. This role provides an opportunity to build and own production systems and be involved in the full software development life cycle. The developer would also have the unique opportunity to gain knowledge about complex quantitative models and to learn from fixed income experts. Interest in developing financial applications is a must. Prior experience in building large scale application is highly desirable. The candidate should exhibit an aptitude for engineering optimized, fault-tolerant software along with great communication skills. Qualifications: - 3+ years of software development experience in C++ - Experience with the full software development life cycle - Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms - Solid knowledge of UNIX and experience with relational databases - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Experience building large scale applications is desirable.
