Babae’s Summer Storms - One of my OMD Favorites! Back in the day, during my summers in Jonesville, SC, my Grandma always left my aunt, Babae, in charge of my cousins and me. It was her job to keep us out of trouble, but many a hot summer day it was Babae who was the trouble! At the first sight of a storm cloud she would make us sit in the front room reciting Bible verses. Then she’d tell us scary snake stories and with the first crack of lightning she’d swear a snake was under the couch. We’d all run around like crazy – hollering and screaming! Babae too! We knew there were no snakes but Babae’s craziness made the real storm less frightening. The storms of life are also very frightening and being a Christian does not exempt you from them. Scripture promises that ‘there are many storms in this life’ (Matthew 14:23) and whether we’re prepared for them or not, our natural instinct is to be afraid. Nevertheless, our trust and faith in God determines whether we run around like crazy or stand firm on His Word until our storm passes. OMDs … the One-Minute Devotional Ministry of Rev.
