Baby-Feeding Update: If youve been keeping up with the saga of what/how were feeding our newborn (since Im unable to breastfeed after my mastectomy) heres an update... Homemade formula was not an option for us, due to concerns from our pediatrician and the nutrition research team who monitors Ava at Childrens Hospital. So instead, I purchased Hipp Organic Combiotic First Infant Milk (the only formula I could find that got glowing reviews across the board from parents, and that contains probiotics to mimic the digestive benefits provided by breast milk.) And I LOVE this formula!! Not only is it more affordable than the Gerber Goodstart we bought while waiting for this one to arrive (its .79 cents per oz for the Hipp brand, as opposed to $1.14 per oz for the Gerber and the Gerbers not even organic!)... but also it is SO EASY on her little tummy. As soon as we switched to this formula, Avas dirty diapers took on the exact color and consistency of breast-fed dirty diapers. I kid you not! So if youre in a similar position (unable to breastfeed or otherwise in need of some supplementation), Im happy to be able to heartily recommend this formula to you. The only down side is that it takes a little while to ship, so account for that. amazon/gp/product/B004TEVU52/?tag=prethung-20
