Baby brag time: Carter really knows most of his basic colors by now, and weve started learning shapes, letters, and numbers. He can identify squares, circles, and triangles, but rectangles and ovals still throw him for a loop. He can identify a few letters and recognize a few more (by identify, I mean he knows and says them, by recognize I mean I get the feeling he knows them but cant quite pronounce them--like with the letter H today, it sounded more like he was saying A, but I think he did actually know it), and today he saw the picture on his D-dinosaur flash card before he saw the letter, and knew that dinosaur was the letter D. We havent started on written numbers or visual representation of numbers yet, but he knows the sequence a bit. I.E., if he hears someone say 3, hell say 4. Not bad for a not-quite-3-year-old! Hes finally starting to get really into books, and hell read with me and repeat some of the words after I say them. If I have my way, and at the rate hes been learning new things lately, hell be following in my foot steps and be reading on his own before he even starts school. ;) Corben is eating real people food like a champ and if he sees you eating food he will literally try to beat you up for it lol, kids brutal! Hes starting to walk while holding onto furniture, and is also mimicking lots and lots of words and sounds. He also seems to actually comprehend quite a few things as well, for instance if he hears someone say Yay! he will usually clap, and quite a bit of the time if he sees one of his rubber ducks or his ducky bath mitt puppet, hell either say cack cack! (quack) or try to say duck so hes really understanding and not just copying stuff. I feel bad for having so little to say about Corben, but while just-turned-1 is a ridiculously adorable age, so far its not been particularly eventful. And in case anyone missed the memo, I just have pretty all-around awesome kids in general and now Im going to go attempt to snuggle with at least one of them.
