Here is a good example, compliments of San Diego Gas & Electric, of how an electric utility tends to trivialize the exposures from a Smart Meter at the expense of baby monitors. When reading the information below copied from the utilitys web site, remember that by averaging RF measurements over time, one can make Smart Meter RF emissions seem trivial because the Smart Meters emit microwave radiation in many, very short bursts. The individual bursts are considerably more substantial. If the information below from Richard Tell Associates Inc. is at all meaningful, then ... A Smart Meter generates about as much RF energy as using a laptop or sitting in a Wi-Fi cyber cafe. Perhaps, the most interesting information SDG&E provides consumers is that a baby monitor generates up to 4,600 times more RF energy than a Smart Meter (at 2 feet) and up to 4 times more RF energy than a cell phone. I wonder how many parents ever considered the potential health effects of wireless baby monitors? And why should they be worried about such devices as who would imagine that government would allow a consumer product for babies to be sold that may harm them?
