Back at the sink. I had just finished searing the beef roast on - TopicsExpress

Back at the sink. I had just finished searing the beef roast on both sides in an iron skillet. Seven minutes on each side, flame high. Removing it from the skillet, I placed it in a hot, waiting crock pot that had a cup of water and my seasonings. And no siree, I did not waste my drippings. I put me some water in the skillet and began to rake the bottom removing all that good stuff from there. Once I had stirred it really good, I poured the gravy that it made, into the crock pot to keep that roast from feeling lonely. I replaced the lid on the crock pot, grabbed the skillet and utensils, then off to the sink, I went. On my right side, I set the skillet and filled it to the rim with water. Its funny, how all the oil comes to the top and kind of floats around. To the left, I placed the splatter screen, so I could scrub it first. Reaching for the dishwashing liquid, I accidently, spilled a drop into the frying pan. I was mesmerized by how the oil reacted. Once that drop of dishwashing liquid hit the water, all of the oil that was floating on top, rushed to one side, staying there collected. It happened so fast. As if, an unseen hand had swooped it over to the side of the skillet and held it there. My mind got busy again. I remembered the Sunday after 9/11. That Sunday, it seemed that all churches everywhere, were filled to capacity. I was amazed at their numbers. I would bet you that folks who hadnt attended church in years, suddenly found themselves, in church, on their knees, crying and begging for forgiveness, full of fear. Fear caused them to flock the churches in droves. Much like folks during Noahs time, must have rushed the Ark, once the rains came and the water began to rise. Human nature is what it is and over time, church congregations began to dwindle as folks sensed the danger was over. Yes, judgment came, and they were spared, this time. Fear got folks crying out to their Creator for His protection but fear did not keep them there. In time, it wore off and folks went back to their ordinary lives. Most went back to their lives without Him. Fear wont keep you there but love will hold you there. So, if love is where we are at, then whenever the next catastrophe occurs, and it will, peace and assurance will wash over us and bathe us in warmth, knowing that we have His protection.
