Back from Ecuador. This is one of the haciendas we stayed in....parts of it are almost 400 years old. I felt like I was on a movie set. We slogged through the Amazon rain forest, ate roasted grubs and live ants (but I passed up on the roasted guinea pig), visited stunning colonial churches and risked our well-being on rickety cable cars and swinging bridges across chasms, soaked in hot springs and visited a volcano that erupted last month. Lots of other things, too, but I think I have brain damage from the Ecuadorian beer, which was very, very good and very, very cheap so Im not sure I remember it all.
