Back home after a bit of Mr. Toads wilde ride. Went to NOLA for a few days to pick up my sweetie, and then we went to the beach in Ft. Morgan, Al for 3 or 4 days to unwind before jumping back into the fray back at the homestead. We were on the way home yesterday (Wed), about an hour and a half outside Montgomery, on the Mobile side, when the car just died. We glided to the side of the road and called AAA. The battery was working but the car wouldnt turn over. Thought it might be the alternator. After a couple hours a tow truck showed up. Best tow truck driver ever. Great young kid. Musickian. Super helpful. Anyway, he schlepped us into town, dropped off the car, then took us to a motel and helped us unload. Today we spent the day confirming warranty and moving the car to the dealer. then we had to get a rental, because the car would not even be looked at today, they said. Late afternoon and we are in the rental on the way to get the rest of our stuff out of the car to go back to Decatur. They tell us that they looked at it and the engine is shot. Timing belt broke, took out the drive shaft and screwed up the engine. Sure am glad its under warranty still. Just the deductible to pay. Unfortunately, it wont be ready with a new engine for well over a week. But, we are home. Tomorrow i try to contact all my clients and refill my calendar, because i somehow erased every single appt i had on it - past and future. Pics to follow on the morrow, as well.
