Back home again.Thanks to those who sent us thoughtful anniversary wishes!!..We passed Laguna Playhouse going to our beach hotel,& noticed that Leslie Caron,film actress & David Engel,Broadway actor/.singer/dancer who wed seen in Beverly Hills Sat ,were in a new(to me) play ->SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS. .We decided to go thinking it began at 8 so got there 7:25-> WRONG started 7:30.we went to ask the B.O. lady for 2 tix & since it began in less than 5 min she said to us,if youre willing to sit in row A Orchestra center 2 seats,you can have them FOR FREE!! We couldnt believe this stroke of good luck on our celebration day(each ticket priced at -- $76.00! - 2 house seats--unoccupied) Next to us was Ben Vereens wardrobe mistress/dog sitter,holding his 8 yr old mini mini Dolman Pincscher named Satchmo.She kept him in a netted meshlike carrier for most of the show but he sat on her lap at intermission Never saw a dog sitting in a theater before,(let alone front row for hrs,)without 1 peep!! but he was silent thru the entire show.Dorothy told us she was dog sitting for Ben while he was making a movie about 2 old homeless men in NYC co-starring Richard Gere..I petted Satchmo,she said Ben named him that because he was born on Louis Armstrongs bday July 4..What a great night & the show was so warm & heartfelt..The 2 danced beautifully & tho its not Gigi ,American In Paris or Carnival which Ms.Caron was in as a young actress.ballerina,now at age 82, she still looks lovely & danced well with Mr.Engel.What a nice present from,who knows,perhaps some divine intervention.We had volunteered there yrs ago as ushers & never got these seats before after doing all that work
