Back home yesterday from Pubcon Austin. The conference venue and hotel were both beautiful and comfortable, with very friendly staff. I was in too much pain (damned arthritis!!!!) to go out with folks at the end and so went to Gabriels, inside the place. The waitresses remembered me from the night before when Bonnie and I were there having dinner. Since I was alone this time, one of them, a real sweet college aged blond, kept me company and remembered the tropical drink I had the night before and brought me that. We got to gabbing so much she forgot to place my order, so she put it in and let me take it to my room, with a gorgeous gigantic bottle of water. I tipped her well just because she was so nice to talk with and I hate dining alone.
