Back in 1976, some friends and I went to Chepstow Castle, near our home town of Newport, Mon. to see Terry Gilliam and co filming the medieval comedy Jabberwocky. We met Terry, Michael Palin and the leading lady, an American actress by the name of Deborah Fallender. I was 15 and seriously into film-making (until the Punk explosion the following year, that is!) and met Terry Bedford, the cameraman, who, along with the production designer, created an amazing feel for the Middle Ages, as he did in their previous film Monty Python & The Holy Grail. Michael Palin has to be one of the nicest stars Ive ever met, although he did complain later in his published diaries about the ghastly Welsh tourists who insisted on autographs, lol! Anyway, the filming fired my enthusiasm so much that I was able to get into Film School three years later.
