Back in 2005, I made the biggest mistake of my life and got behind the wheel of my car, hammered. On my way home, I crashed into a street sign when the dark road I was on suddenly doglegged. 10 minutes later, the cops were there and I was on my way to jail. After I sobered up a bit, I was grateful that I didnt hit anyone else. I was let out of jail 12 hours after being booked with CTS on a mandatory 48 hour sentence. Over the next few months, I had to go to court, pay fines, take classes and get a psychological evaluation to determine whether or not I was a serious risk of doing it again. Before I could get my licence back, I also had to get a special insurance which I needed to carry on me wherever I went, whether I was driving or not. All-in-all, including fixing my car, that one incident cost me around $60,000 over 7 years. Learn from my mistake and be careful tonight. Happy New Years all.
