Back in Florida applying what I learned on my trip, I present you with a new series of one of Floridas most difficult birds to photograph.. The Belted Kingfisher. Extremely skittish , with a very unusual wing beat, gives these birds an uncanny ability to dart very fast and to plunge straight down into the water to feed. They are virtually unapproachable except with a long lens and from a blind. I had the opportunity to do just that thanks to Ron Bielefeld of Sebastian FL. Ron is an unbelievable photographer and Research Biologist. Using my new Tamron 150-600mm lens from a blind set up by Ron I was able to make these captures. Enjoy!
