Back in June the ASPCA opened the Neonatal Kitten Unit. This first-of-its-kind facility was designed specifically to manage the influx of newborn kittens that flood shelters every year during “kitten season”. CATSUP was one of the very first patients to enter the ASPCA’s kitten ward. He and four siblings—MUSTARD, RELISH, SAUERKRAUT, and HOLLANDAISE —were found as motherless strays in the Bronx, New York. They were only three days old. After arriving at the ASPCAs new facility, the “condiment kitties” received round-the-clock attention. As months passed, Catsup grew strong enough to be microchipped, vaccinated, neutered and made available for adoption. When adopters Jesse and Ilana met him, it was love at first sight. Now, far from the uncertainty of his days on the streets, this kitten—whose new home came with a new name, Theodore—is happily settling into family life. (We did contact the ASPCA regarding MUSTARD, RELISH, SAUERKRAUT, and HOLLANDAISE, and they replied that once a kitten is old enough he goes through to the adoption centre. There is no further news of them – but we are quite sure that if they are as adorable as CATSUP, they would have no problems finding homes!
