Back in Legon there was a philosophy lecturer who was fond of wearing batik prints and sneakers (aka cambo) hence she had been nicknamed Adwoa Cambo by students. Rumour had it that she was quite... eccentric; but well you know students and our panache for exaggeration and tagging strict lecturers. My close encounter with her was in level 300 during a history and philosophy of science class. It was around the time ghana was experiencing another electricity load shedding so one could be in an evening lecture and the lights could suddenly go off. One particular evening whilst she was lecturing the lights as usual went off and Adwoa Cambo brought out a torch and continued with the lecture. We were not amused. After 10minutes the class started getting noisy and so she decided to wrap up but the noise kept getting worse then suddenly she screamed will you shut up and listen to me! The room was silent, so silent you could hear a pin drop. Meanwhile Adwoa just continued talking like nothing had happened. That was when it hit me that I had just experienced an Adwoa Cambo moment.
