Back in March 1965 I met my Linda in Allanta! She had a good job and I didnt! I ask her for a date and she said yes but insisted that I pay the way....she was an old fashioned gal. She drove a 1963 red Impala convertible and I drove a worn out 1951 Hudson Super Jet. She was used to a night at the Fox and dinner at the the Chateau Fleur De Lis. I was “Ernies Ice House” and Dunk n Dine. On the first date we went to Grants Park and wound up at the Esso Fleet Truck Stop out on I-85 N. We drank coffee until the wee hours and just talked. The Hudson quit about a block from her place and she had to help me push it through the Sandy Springs/Piedmont Road intersection. I got her home and figured it was probably over. But, I tried again..she said yes but we would take HER CAR! We did a lotta simple stuff...things that I could afford. You know, playin the guitar and singin around a campfire with some mutual friends on the banks of the Chattahoochee. etc...but..we always wound up back at the Esso Fleet.....talkin and sharin coffee and cigarettes til the wee small hours. Somewhere along the way we fell hopelessly..in love. The truck drivers at the Esso Fleet loved this song and it played constantly. In fact we would feed the jukebox to play it often cause this became our...love song. We talked and laughed about it for 35 years..until I lost her. I recently found it on You Tube and just wanted to share it. Go figure!! https://youtube/watch?v=REohDrkt5I4
