Back in Springfield, MO, one of the spiritual birthplaces of The Del-Lords. Arrived a few hours ago with Roscoe and Mary Lee. Were here to honor, memorialize, and celebrate the singular life of the bands godfather, mentor, hero, friend and the greatest man Ive ever known, Lou Whitney. Already ran into my great friend and consigliere, David Wykoff, the incredible recording engineer and old friend, Vance Powell, as well as my friend and old band mate, Andy Shernoff. Tonight I will be seeing Joe Terry, Bobby Lloyd Hicks, and Donnie Thomspson, three of the greatest musicians in the country (also three ex-Skeletons). Were all having a big blow-out dinner in an hour or so at a fancy shmancy steak house. Therell be laughs, good feelings, several toasts to our beloved Lou Whitney, and maybe some tears, too. Cant wait to see everyone. Tonight will be one well all remember forever. Tomorrow is the memorial itself. God Bless you, Lou Whitney. We love you and miss you. You will always be one of a kind. Our kind.
