Back in the 1990s I had a small drum kit that had dampers on the tom toms and floor tom tom and snare. I used to dampen it so that there was just a little bit of air coming through. I had a cowbow, splash, crash, and ride cymbal and high hat. I even bought a picolo drum snare as I was trying to replicate the drum sound in this song. Listen to how the drum kit sounds. Its a nice tight sound - especially the snare - its sounds snappy. So when you combine my other influences with the sound I was after it sounds unique. Bill Wyman, bassist, quit on the Rolling Stones and he surely missed because he has such a unique bass tone as evident in this song and Start me up. I hope Kenneth Kamenawatamin will take some pointers from Bill Wyman. A bands rhythm section (drums, bass, and rhythm guitar) can make or break a band. https://youtube/watch?v=jo34VhfcetU
