Back in the Spring of 2012, a friend of mine from Lancaster, SC - TopicsExpress

Back in the Spring of 2012, a friend of mine from Lancaster, SC called me up to talk about how he felt led to do something for his local community. He wanted to share the Gospel in the form of a community outreach. At the time, he was the owner of a mechanic shop Extreme Automotive). He had been working on cars for many years and loved his career. But he told me how recently God had placed a strong burden on his heart to focus on ministry and outreach. He said Matt, I just really feel like the Lord is calling me to do more with my life..........to go to work for HIM and maybe even shut down this old mechanic shop. But he didnt shut down the shop quite yet. Instead, he wanted to start with something a little smaller and asked me if I would help him to do an outreach at Andrew Jackson State Park. He wanted me to perform in concert and then give a message to all who attended. The event would take place in September. He got a local restaurant involved and they gave away a lot of food that day. He advertised well and people came from all around to be a part of this Jammin for Jesus event. The man Im talking about is Wylie Penegar. My friend Wylie brought the entire community together that day b/c he listened to the voice of God, and obeyed. About a month or so after the Jammin For Jesus event, I got a call from a mutual friend who told me that Wylie was in the hospital. He had come down with something and when checked out, was told that he had a very rare disease. I visited Wylie and his family in the hospital a couple of times. We prayed over him and encouraged him. But within weeks, my dear friend Wylie passed away. He left behind a wife, a son who had just graduated high school and a daughter who was barely past the age of 16. As you can imagine, everyone was completely blown away by this. Just 2 months prior, this man was alive and well, doing outreach and obeying the great burden that the Lord had laid on his heart for his community. He was ready to give up his business and many comforts in his life to serve the Lord. And what an awesome testimony as we remember Wylie today during the 3rd annual Jammin For Jesus event. Even though he is not with us any longer, the outreach that he started back in 2012 continues to this very day. And what a wonderful outreach it is! So if youre in the area today, come check out Jammin for Jesus 2014. Its free and it starts at 5:00pm at Andrew Jackson State Park (Lancaster, SC). Theres going to be music, food, fellowship and of course, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Hope to see you there!
