Back in the day (1986), I remember Tommy Hanes coming to PPHS so anyone that wanted to and was 18 could register to vote. I was so excited to be able to go register and actually get to vote. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. But as I have gotten older the coolness of it all has totally faded. I have always been told it is a privilege to vote. However I do not agree. Every political message on television has whichever politician and/or supporter saying the opponent is full of lies, he is against the coal industry, she backs Obama, he voted for Obamacare, she will side with the big money, he wants to end medicare and so on. These mudslinging, lying, pathetic people get on television with these ads and approve these messages that are full of lies. So what makes that a privilege? Someone please tell me what difference it makes whether you vote or not. It doesnt matter who wins because they will do what they want to do with no regard to what their actual supporters want or need. They keep lining their pockets with money while the taxpayers go broke. Something is so wrong with the whole political system that I do not believe it can ever be fixed.
