Back in the developmental years, I was a bit of a handful , and so they put me in an AIG program in grade school, sometime around the 2nd or 3rd grade. It was a classroom without walls so to speak, and without a doubt very different from the regular curriculum for other 7 and 8 year old kids. I remember doing book reports and reading assignments for works like 1984 by George Orwell, and Future Shock by Alvin Toffler. I recalled this experience recently when I was questioning myself as to why I am so resistant to the idea of owning a smart phone.
