Back in the early 1960s an episcopal church in a small town was getting a new rector. The vestry had decided that the Senior and Junior Wardens would take him fishing to get to know him. When the priest arrived she was a woman. The Wardens decided they were going to treat her like a male rector. After all if she wants to be a priest they will treat her like one. They asked her to go fishing with them. To their surprise she said yes. They got their fishing gear and with the female priest went to the lake to fish. They got into the boat and rowed out into the lake. The Junior Warden drop the anchor into the water and was already to start fishing. The female priest suddenly said, I forgot my fishing poll. I left it over there on the dock. So the Junior Warden start to pull the anchor back up,but the priest stopped him by saying, you dont have to do that,Ill go and get it. She stood up in the boat and stepped out. She walked across the water to the dock and got her fishing pole. From the dock she waved to show she had it. The Senior Warden and Junior Warden looked at each other with amazement. The Senior Warden said to the Junior Warden,Its just like a woman to forget her fishing pole. We can be like that. We get so wrapped up in our routines of everyday life we dont take notice of the miracles around us.
