Back in the early 90s I met this amazing woman in a course (Partnership at Landmark) in Boston. She started an email dialogue with me and one other woman in the course. Since then she has become the older sister I have always wanted. She is so amazing I want to be her when I grow up. She was an art teacher and a visual artist. At the moment she is focusing on technology for seniors as a teacher and mentor. As a senior, she just has an amazing resume and just keep growing and learning. Her name is Sheila Bakely Finkelstein. She is the person who taught me that I can take photographs that are beautiful and ended my conversations I cant take good pictures. That alone was a miracle. Anyway, while shes not focusing on her art right now you can get a sense of her work at PhotographyandTransformation has almost 6 years of photographs and self-reflecting queries. Id like to tell you how many pieces of her I have but I dont even know. She sells at Cafe Press and quite honestly, between tiles and buttons and pieces, shes in my visual life all the time.
