Back in the summer of 1990, I remember waiting in line for two - TopicsExpress

Back in the summer of 1990, I remember waiting in line for two hours to see the return of John McClane in Die Hard 2: Die Harder. Flash forward to today, where I was tidying up in the living room, and found a DVD so covered in dust I had to wipe it off to see what it was: A Good Day to Die Hard. Someone gave me a copy of this back when it first came out and seeing how I could never muster enough interest to see it, I apparently forgot all about it. Now, after having watched it, I think I was better off letting it collect dust. At no point did this film feel like a Die Hard film to me - in fact, it felt more like a direct-to-video sequel than an actual theatrical one, as the budget for this movie looked paper thin in comparison to the others. Even the films highlight car chase through the Russian freeway, while not poorly done, felt routine and very ho hum to me. And Willis just comes off as bored and his lack of enthusiasm for the project is painfully obvious. After watching this, I could care even less now to ever see Die Hardest, which is apparently in the works.
