Back now in California after a two year absence. A 48 hour trip from the hotel to San Diego via Manila airport, then nine and a half hours to Abu Dhabi. There a two hour 30 minute lay over where one has to go through US TSA checks and security. Then a thirteen and a half hour flight by a Boeing 777 to New York (JFK). All this with Etihad Airlines, and I can most definitely recommend them. It has to be said that JFK is far more user friendly than LAX for international arrivals, and I was through immigration and customs (the customs officer was a diver!!...useful) in less than 30 minutes as compared to LAX at almost four hours. Then an almost six hour flight with American Airlines (nowhere near as good, clean or professional) from JFK to LAX. Virtually a 30 hour physical inflight time, but still arrived slightly early. Good to be back with Matthew Chapman, B and family. And of course to see my two eldest grandchildren, Sinqi and Pablo, and their new young brother, Tiago. I am tired, I think, not sure because if jet lag, but otherwise okay.
