Back to Civil War time. 150 years ago, (March 1864), the war was far from decided. Yes, there have been some striking Confederate defeats, but the South only has to not lose, to win - and Northerners are getting more and more fed up with the toll and pace of the war. Both sides are getting desperate (especially in the South where starvation and destruction are terrible), and are facing the reality of needing to put all resources, including Negro resources, to bear. The decision was made by the Union to allow (gasp!) colored regiments, and now they have been raised and are ready to help. Take a step back in time to see how this felt - the time when African Americans can quite literally fight for their freedom! This is captured well in the movie Glory, with Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, and others. Consider renting it, to see what many of our Ancestors faced, now in Civil War Time! My DNA test shows a trace of an African American - likely an escaped slave, lost in the family history. Yours may too. Glimpse their world, that struggle! Also - Robert Shaw was a Unitarian who fought so hard to see his colored troops fight, knowing that this would help force black equality in the coming century, and he died in battle. imdb/title/tt0097441/
